Our Expectations at IncludEd

Ready • Respectful • Safe

At IncludEd, we believe that clear, consistent expectations help children and young people feel secure, supported, and able to succeed. Our Non-School Alternative Provision is built around relationships, trust, and a shared understanding of how we work together.

Our expectations are simple, positive, and rooted in our values:

Ready

Being Ready means being prepared to engage in learning and take part in the day as fully as possible.

This looks like:

  • Arriving on time and ready to begin the session
  • Being open to trying, even when learning feels challenging
  • Asking for help or support when it’s needed

We recognise that every day can feel different for our learners. Staff support children and young people to become ready in ways that are realistic, flexible, and matched to individual needs.

Respectful

Being Respectful means valuing ourselves, others, and the environment we share.

This includes:

  • Using kind, appropriate language
  • Listening to others and taking turns
  • Following adult guidance
  • Respecting personal space and boundaries
  • Taking care of the IncludEd environment and resources

At IncludEd, respect is modelled by adults and taught through positive relationships, restorative conversations, and consistent expectations.

Safe

Feeling and being Safe is essential for learning and wellbeing.

This means:

  • Making choices that keep ourselves and others safe
  • Following safety instructions and boundaries
  • Using equipment and spaces appropriately
  • Letting an adult know if something feels unsafe or worrying

We create a calm, predictable environment where children and young people know they are supported, listened to, and protected.

A Supportive Approach

Our expectations are underpinned by a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach. We understand that behaviour is communication and work alongside learners to help them develop regulation, confidence, and positive strategies over time.

When difficulties arise, we:

  • Focus on understanding the reason behind behaviour
  • Use restorative and reflective conversations
  • Support learners to repair relationships and make positive choices

Working Together

Families, schools, and professionals are key partners in supporting our learners. By working together and sharing consistent messages, we help children and young people feel safe, valued, and successful during their time at IncludEd.
