Meet our founders

Emily Carr - Co-Director

I started my career as a primary teacher, working in mainstream schools before becoming a leader in a number of Pupil Referral Units, across the North East.

I was quickly recognised for my leadership ability and secured a position as headteacher of a Teesside PRU. For over six years, I led the school in successfully achieving several sought after, national accolades including the IQM Flagship award; the Leeds Carneige Mental Health Award at Gold standard and the SMSC Gold standard award.

My experience at both primary and secondary stage gave me an insight into what is successful at all age groups and a strong understanding of transition between key stages. My passion and drive has always been to improve the life chances of disengaged and disaffected learners by supporting them to develop academically, socially and emotionally.

Through my success, I have been sought out by other educational establishments to provide school improvement and development, and have enjoyed working across a number of settings, across the country, providing both strategic and operational support. I have previously worked as an assessor and as an Ambassador for the Inclusion Quality Mark, supporting schools in providing an inclusive offer for all.

I am passionate about supporting educational provisions and I am a secondary school governor and a Chair of Governors of a primary school.

With over 15 years’ experience of working in AP, PRUs, Specialist provisions and mainstream schools I am in the strongest position to be able to offer consultancy and leadership support to schools and settings that have the ambition to be outstanding and the commitment to make a positive impact on vulnerable children and their families.

Rachel Campbell - Co-Director

I have worked in various roles in Education since 2002. From the first time I walked into a classroom, I knew I wanted to support young people who were on the fringe of education and society.

After completing my joint honours degree in English and History, and PGCE in Secondary English Studies, I embarked on a career as a Secondary English teacher. My mainstream teaching experience and success with disengaged students who displayed challenging behaviour, led me to take on additional responsibility as a Year Manager, developing my knowledge of what pupils and their families were experiencing beyond the school gates.

I progressed into the Alternative Education sector and for eight years held the role of senior leader before moving into headship, raising teaching and learning expectations among students and staff and supporting others in the profession to embark on their leadership journey.

The role of head teacher gave me a further level of training and understanding of the strategic and courageous decisions that you make when leading a school.  This experience has led to further opportunities as a leader in the Independent Schools sector, enhancing my knowledge and understanding for specialist provision.

Alongside my direct work with staff and students, I am an advocate for inclusive learning and continue to offer strategic leadership support to other schools, and as a governor at two mainstream schools.

After many successful years as a leader in this sector, the opportunity to embark on my own venture into alternative provision, training and consultancy is the next stage and one I am excited to explore.
